wanted to pass this on due to the question being closed, just repaired the plastic radiator tank on my stepdaugters mazda mvp minivan, the tank cracked from physical damage, remove the radiator, yea i know it’s a pain, inspect the damage area to see if it’s something that can be repaired. now take some sandpaper and scuff up the area well, This tank was cracked, so the first thing i did was line up the sides of the split, nect i took my soldering gun,gun not iron, you need wattage, and very carefully fused the crack back into one peice, i used a side to side motion, from one end to the other, after this step, the crack was barely visible, next after cleaning the plastic and roughing it up again, i used a product from Versachem ,called plastic welder., very good stuff, it’s a two part plastic repairing epoxy, mix the epoxy, now apply it along the fused crack in the tank, while it’s unset, press some fine mesh stainless screen into the compound, now mix up some more compound and apply it over the screen. the screen gives it structural strength. now let the entire thing sit for about 24 hours. after the time is up,make sure the repair compound is bonded to the tank and won’t peel. you should be good to go. Notice there is no quick fix in this, it takes time to do this properly. I think most repairs fail due to people rushing them. how well is your repair going to hold up,after slapping something on a radiator, that is probably covered in coolant, and dirty, just because Billy Mays screamed for you to do it. if you do it right it should last , I still recommend replacing the radiator as soon as possible.

I wanted to bring up the point that i actually closed up the seam first with the soldering gun, melted the plastic back together, the “epoxy” i used was a special epoxy made just for plastics. I think the difference was i took the time to prep the tank first and let it cure for the full 24 hours. buying a radiator wasn’t an option for them, they simply don’t have the money. I see people try to do this all the time,by putting the epoxy, which isn’t meant for this type of application, right over dirt and crud on the tank,of course that won’ t stick.
